Canon has introduced a new compact camera EOS R100 mirrorless along with the company’s first-ever RF mount format pancake lens. The new compact camera comes with an APS-C size CMOS image sensor and it is said to be the smallest, lightest EOS R series camera.

The camera also offers connectivity features like Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, which allows users to quickly transfer pictures to Android and iOS devices using the Canon Camera Connect app. Despite being a compact device, it still features a digital OLED viewfinder along with a generous grip.

The camera comes with a 24.1 MP sensor with support for features like face tracking autofocus, sports autofocus, 1-point autofocus, and zone autofocus. The camera has an effective ISO range of 100–12,800 (H:25,600) for pictures and 100–12,800(H:25,600) for videos at 1080p resolution.

In the continuous shooting mode, the EOS R100 is capable of shooting 6.5 frames per second with a maximum shutter speed of 1/4,000s. In terms of videography, the camera can shoot up to 4K videos at 24/25fps and it can shoot 1080p videos with up to 60fps. In a single take, the camera can shoot up to 29 minutes 59 seconds of normal video or 7 minutes 29 seconds of high-frame-rate video and the camera accepts UHS-I cards.

Along with the camera, the company has also launched the RF28mm f/2.8 STM pancake lens, which is just 25cm long and weighs 120 grams. The lens is compatible with both full-frame Canon mirrorless cameras and the APS-C sensor type camera like the EOS R100.

As of now, the company has not unveiled the price of the EOS R100 camera and the RF28mm f/2.8 lens, and the same will be announced closer to the sale date in June 2023.
