With more than 46% of users spending more than 5 hours on a PC / laptop in a day it is critical to get most out of this device1.
Many of us have one complaint in common- we are short of time. Despite using very powerful computing devices in the form of PCs, laptops and smartphones, all of us end up, more often than not, losing the fight to find leisure time.
Today, we are living in an unprecedented time in history, which has, in a lot of cases, made it more difficult to establish work-life balance. To address this challenge, many companies have introduced ‘no calls days’ and other such mandatory interventions for teams to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
We must be productive in our work, and at the same time, find the right balance to take care of other important aspects of life like family, children, friends, etc. Above all we must find time for ourselves to attend to our overall mental and physical health. We need time to attend fitness regimes, do meditation, engage with family, friends and colleagues. We also need time to share responsibilities of the home with other family members. Simply put, we have to make most of our life!
Make Most of Our Life
In a typical workday, over 46% of users spend more than 5 hours a day on a PC or a laptop, according to a study commissioned by Western Digital called, ‘PC Health and Usage – India’1. This is a minimum one-third of our active day, assuming we are awake for between 15-18 hours. What if we are able to save some of the time while finishing all our tasks? The fact is, within a typical time-cycle of a day, we cannot save time on certain things. For instance, we cannot sleep faster or meditate faster. But we can definitely work faster if we are using the right PC or laptop.
In the aforementioned study, performance benchmarking tests have proven how just by upgrading to an SSD (solid state drive) over an HDD (hard disk drive), we can increase the speed of common tasks using a PC or a laptop. Be it the routine admin-related tasks like upgrading software, performing operational tasks like rebooting, or the persona-defined tasks like a gamer or a content creator, the speed efficiency achieved ranges between 2.5x to 4x (where x is the time spend to perform same tasks on the identical configuration PC or laptop having HDD type of storage).
Upgrading Tech Can improve Your Productivity
In the old days, we all quickly upgraded to ball point pens from ink pens, as they were smooth and helped increase our writing speed significantly; as a result, we could write faster and better. Saving time meant a lot, especially when taking our exams in college days. Today, laptops / PCs have replaced our pens, so why not upgrade to an SSD and be efficient again, in this digital age?
The bottom line is that, by upgrading the storage drive of a PC or laptop, you can increase the efficiency as well as the longevity of a computing device. This is an easy way to save time from our office tasks to get the most of our lives by spending that extra time with family, children, our own fitness, or helping family with the household chores.
